Five for Friday

This is my first time linking up with  Five for Friday and I'm so excited to participate.  I had my camera out all week, so I have plenty of pics to choose from!

1. I had my bottom 2 wisdom teeth out on Tuesday and was out Wednesday, too.  I was happy to see this note from a sweet student waiting for my when I returned.  :)
2. My honey and I got new furniture last weekend for our balcony.  We've spent a lot of time out there already.  Yay, Texas weather!
3. I introduced a Rainbow Reading Challenge to my class a couple of weeks ago and here's what their chains looked like today.  They've been earning lots of links.  Pretty soon, I'm going to let them know that each link will earn them an entry to get $5 of books from the Scholastic Book Orders.  But, right now, it's on the DL.  (The pic is dark, but I hope you get the idea.)

4. Over the weekend, I painted this little monkey plate for my a baby shower.  It didn't turn out too bad!
5. Today in class, my small groups worked on completing the K-W-R chart for their research about the moon.  This was a great strategy to help them think about the research process.

I hope to find some great blogs, learn more about other bloggers, and get some great ideas by linking up each week.  If you're new to The Science Penguin, thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by The Math Penguin.

LOVE learning about the moon/sun/space. When I taught in Charlotte, it wasn't in my grade level's standards, but now that I'm in Georgia I'm all about space. One of our fourth grade teachers did a space musical - my kids haven't stopped rapping, "Phases of the Moon ..." (said to the beat, but it's hard to show that over the Interwebs ...) :)
